Washington, PA — A ceremony was held on June 6, 2013 for the graduates of the latest Getting Ahead Class. The ceremony was the culmination of the 16-week class, in which participants discussed poverty and community resources and used that information to set goals and establish their “Future Stories.”
Graduates, family, friends, and CAS staff and board members gathered to listen to the participants’ future stories and celebrated their accomplishments.
The seven graduates from this class will join graduates from several other Getting Ahead classes at monthly Graduate Group meetings where they will continue to pursue their goals. At the first graduate group meeting on June 19, participants established the group’s mission statement:
“We meet to focus on goals and support each other while utilizing Community Action Southwest and our own resources to achieve personal growth and future success.”
