Fingerprint Caterpillars

– Can use watercolor or regular washable paints

– Have child use finger to make dots in a line on a piece of paper

– Help child draw features of caterpillar

Fingerprint Ladybugs

– Can use watercolor or regular washable paints

– Have child use finger to make red dots on a piece of paper

– Help child draw features and dots on ladybugs

– Take picture of child holding up their work and post it under the Wednesday “Show Your Work” Facebook post on the Blueprints page! (Optional)

 

Paint & Press Butterfly:

– Cut a butterfly shape out of construction or copy paper – fold in half

– Have child paint or add drops of food coloring to one side – fold closed; press and reopen.

– Take picture of child holding up their work and post it under the Wednesday “Show Your Work” Facebook post on the Blueprints page! (Optional)

 

Pre-K

Make a “Very Hungry Caterpillar” and cut out foods to “feed” the caterpillar.

– Use paper plates – color or paint 7 green plates and 1 red plate

– Use grocery ads or magazines , and cut out foods to “feed” the caterpillar.

– Children can also draw pictures of the foods on the plates or separate paper & glue to their caterpillars.

Caterpillar Loops

You only need a few basic supplies for this caterpillar craft and it’s so easy but the end result is an adorable little caterpillar. Supplies Needed: Construction Paper (in colors green, red, and black), Scissor, Tape & Glue

-Cut 6 green strips and one red strip of paper

-Make a paper chain by taping green loops to eachother and then tape the red one on the end

– Help your child draw or make features and help them cut out the small features (Eyes, Antennae & Mouth) and glue them to the red piece.

Counting Caterpillars

–  Pre-cut circles of colored paper (about the size of a quarter) and draw a simple “caterpillar head”  with the number of body segments to add for each one  – the children can lay the circles next to the caterpillar faces to match the numbers listed (no need to glue – that way, they can play again or easily make changes)  – once completed, talk about which one is the longest, which one may be the fastest (or slowest) and why.

Caterpillar Crawl or Butterfly Dances

Play slow or fast music on your phone and have your child dance and fly like a butterfly or crawl like a caterpillar to the pace of the music.
